Ms. Johnson grew up in the Panhandle of Florida, where she attended Niceville Senior High School. Ms. Johnson obtained her Bachelor’s degree at Illinois State University, where she graduated cum laude. Ms. Johnson attended The Florida Coastal School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Board. Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Johnson accepted a position as a trial court law clerk in Florida’s Third Judicial Circuit. It was in this position that Ms. Johnson had the ability to learn from some of Florida’s finest circuit and county court judges.

Having learned a great deal about the behind-the-scenes of a trial court, Ms. Johnson desired to litigate inside of a courtroom. Thus, Ms. Johnson became a staff attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem program, where she worked with children in foster care. In this position, her primary duties consisted of assisting older youth in obtaining the necessary tools before aging out of the foster care system. Desiring more litigation experience, Ms. Johnson accepted a position at the Office of the Public Defender. There, she handled cases at the juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony levels. Wanting to expand her legal knowledge, but continue with her passion for criminal defense, Ms. Johnson joined the appellate division of the Office of the Public Defender in Tallahassee. There, Ms. Johnson continued to represent criminal defendants after a plea of guilty or no contest was entered or an unfavorable verdict was rendered at the trial level. In the appellate division, Ms. Johnson further expanded on her research and writing skills, and observed the art of litigation from a new perspective. Ms. Johnson successfully argued in the First District Court of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court.

In opening the law firm of Johnson and Lufrano, P.A., Ms. Johnson is now able to combine her passion for both litigation and appellate advocacy. Ms. Johnson is a member of the Florida Bar Association’s Juvenile Court Rules Committee, The First District Appellate American Inn of Court, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, The Northeast Chapter of Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and The Jacksonville Bar Association. In 2016, Ms. Johnson was named a Rising Star - Top Rated Criminal Defense Attorney - by Super Lawyer Magazine and a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by The National Trial Lawyers.
